Help Us to Help You!

To help us complete your tax return quickly and smoothly, please ensure that all required documents are organized and provided ahead of time. This includes your income statements (e.g., W-2s, 1099s), receipts for deductions, previous year’s tax return, and any other relevant financial information. Clear communication about any changes in your financial situation will also help us avoid delays. By preparing in advance, you allow us to accurately and efficiently process your return, ensuring a stress-free experience for you.

  • Open all envelopes prior to dropping off your tax information. It takes us time (and many, many paper cuts!) to open multiple envelopes in tax packets. 
     

  • Avoid using staples! We kindly ask that you refrain from stapling tax documents to your organizer or to each other. Stapling makes it difficult for us to process and organize your paperwork efficiently. If any of your documents are stapled within your organizer, please feel free to remove the staples before submitting them. This helps ensure that all documents can be handled smoothly and accurately, speeding up the processing of your tax return. 
     

  • Please provide complete copies of tax documents, particularly, K1's and any 1099's.
     

  • Document Ordering - We love getting data organized in the same order as our Tax Organizer

  • Remember any charitable contributionsDid you make any donations in the past year - cash or non-cash? Find those receipts, thank-you letters and drop off slips. Ensure that you include the value of non-cash contributions, like a clothing or household item donation.

  • Tally those deductions. Give us a summary of any real estate taxes paid directly to the county(not through your mortgage), medical expenses paid, or political contributions made. A spreadsheet or list helps us to work more efficiently, focus on your return and look for any missing valuable deductions.

  • Take Advantage of the client questionnaire! Whaley & Associates sends out an annual client questionnaire and organizer (either by mail or uploaded to your Liscio account)to help you double-check that you have all necessary information together. It's an invaluable tool for tying up all loose ends before filing.

  • Help us keep your confidential information safe! Do not email or text us pictures of your tax documents. Please use our fully secure client communication portal, LISCIO.
     

  • Please wait to drop off your organizer or other requested information until you have most or all of the information. We work most efficiently with complete information.
